It seems the 1989 batch of Indian Police Service is now ruling key police posts at the centre. Chiefs of BSF, ITBP, CISF, Civil Defence, newly appointed director general of investigation at NHRC – all belong to the 1989 batch.
It’s expected more officers from the batch may get some of the key posts that falling vacant in the next few months. Like – DG, NSG, a 1986 batch IPS officer, is retiring by the end of February and DG, NDRF, a 1988 batch IPS officer, and DG, NIA, a 1987 batch officer, are retiring on March 31.
Another post of special director is now also vacant with incumbent Ajay Bhatnagar becoming DG, investigation at NHRC. Now it’s upto the government how soon it fills up the vacancies when they arise.
