IAS official Sanjay Kumar, a 1999 batch officer, was on Monday appointed as Principal Secretary of Education Department. The post became vacant after the retirement of RK Mahajan , a 1987 batch IAS officer.
Mr Mahajan was designated as the new chairman of the Bihar Public Service Commission ( BPSC) following his retirement from state government’s service. Mr Mahajan will take up his new post from September 1.
Prior to that Mr Sanjay Kumar was posted as the principal secretary in the tourism division. The orders for his appointment as the new head of the education department came on Monday.
According to the information provided by the General Administration Department (GAD), Mr Sanjay Kumar will keep on holding the extra charge of principal secretary, cabinet secretariat department and the principal secretary of the state advisory committee, Patna.
The principal secretary of art, culture and youth department, Ravi Manubhai Parmar, was given the extra charge of the tourism division.
Also, development commissioner Kumar Singh was given the additional charge of vigilance department.
