In an administrative reshuffle succeeding a rise in clashes between top state bureaucrats and ministers in the state cabinet, the Rajasthan government launched an order to transfer 21 senior IAS officers in the state.
The reshuffle was quite severe which can be evaluated by the fact that the state government named Niranjan Kumar Arya, who had retired on October 31st, as the new Chief Secretary just hours after the union government refused to extend the tenure of the former chief secretary of the state, Rajeeva Swarup, by another three months.
According to the order given late at night, the state government moved Veenu Gupta from the post of ACS, PWD, to the post of director of Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board.
While Subodh Agarwal is moved from ACS, Mines, and Petroleum department, to chairman and managing director, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation.
Rajeshwar Singh has been appointed in Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation from ACS, tribal area development.
Senior IAS officer Akhil Arora will be the head of the finance department and his predecessor Siddharth Mahajan will be moved to Medical health and family welfare.
While IAS officer Naveen Mahajan has been assigned the responsibility of the water resources department, he will now also be in charge of the water resources department, state water resources planning department, and Indira Gandhi canal department, public health and engineering, and groundwater department.
In a similar fashion, IAS officer Om Prakash has been appointed the additional responsibility of the commissioner, horticulture department. He is already commissioner of agriculture.
