IAS Officer Ravi Dhawan Appointed as Director in Ministry of Power – Know More About Him

New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed Ravi Dhawan, a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre, as Director in the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The appointment was confirmed through an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 8, 2025.

Dhawan has been appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He has been instructed to immediately relinquish his current responsibilities to assume the new assignment at the Centre.

Ravi Dhawan is currently serving as Member (Administration) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the Government of NCT of Delhi. He has built a versatile and impactful career across key administrative and development roles.

Academic Background and Civil Services Record

A graduate of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, Ravi Dhawan holds a B.Com (Hons.) degree. He cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination with exceptional performance, securing All India Rank 6 in his batch.

Known for his professionalism and reform-driven approach, Dhawan’s administrative work has often focused on infrastructure development, digital transformation, and inclusive governance.

With the Ministry of Power overseeing India’s critical electricity generation, distribution, and energy transition goals, Dhawan’s appointment brings in a bureaucrat experienced in both power sector administration and cross-sectoral policy delivery. His earlier stint as Special Secretary (Power) in Goa could serve as a valuable asset at the national level.
