1995 batch IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, Mr. Rohit Kansal has been appointed as Additional Secretary in Ministry of Textiles. He was recently holding the office of Principal Secretary in the Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government and also the department of Information and Public Relations.
Apart from this, he has held key positions in the Jammu and Kashmir administration including Deputy Commissioner of several districts, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir and Secretary in different departments.
He holds a management graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar University of Punjab, India. He is a fellow of the Third Generation of Ananta Aspen’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and member of Aspen Global Leadership Network. He has been an Emerging Leaders Fellow of the Australia-India Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia as well as a fellow at the London School of Economics, London.
His case studies on administrative and strategic issues have been published by the National Civil Service Academy, LBSNAA where he also had the distinction of being judged the Best All Round Officer Trainee.
