1996 batch IPS officer N. Sanjay will be the new chief of Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID). He was working as Director General (DG) of Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response and Fire Services.
According to a Government Order issued by Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy, the incumbent CID chief, Mr. P.V. Sunil Kumar has been asked to report to the General Administration Department (GAD).
1993 batch IPS officer Sunil Kumar has been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police recently by the State government. He was appointed CID chief in September 2019. He was promoted as Director General rank officer in January. During his tenure, the CID investigated sensational cases like alleged insider trading of lands in Amaravati.
While Mr. Sanjay assumed charge as the director general of the State Disaster Response and Fire Services in October 2022. He is from the Visakhapatnam district and holds a law degree from Andhra University. Earlier, he served as managing director of AP Police Housing Corporation Limited. He served in different capacities in undivided Andhra Pradesh in the districts of Warangal, Nalgonda, Kurnool, Ananthapur, Nizamabad, and Hyderabad.
