A senior IPS in Tamil Nadu was chosen as the Officer on Special Duty to expedite the implementation of e-governance at the Secretariat.

The Tamil Nadu government has given additional charges of Officer on Special Duty, Information Technology Department, a newly created post in the rank of ADGP, to IPS officer G. Venkataraman. He is currently the Additional Director-General of Police and is heading the Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu police.
It is learnt that the 1994 batch IPS officer, G. Venkataraman, played a key role in the implementation of e-governance in the police headquarters. He formed a team of police officers who had expertise in information technology applications and brought about paperless file movement in the office of the Director-General of Police when he was the Inspector-General of Police, Administration.
