New Delhi: In a significant career progression for officers of the Indian Economic Service (IES), the central government has granted the Non-Functional Selection Grade (NFSG) to 25 Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) officers of the 2013 batch. The decision follows the approval of recommendations made by the Senior Selection Committee, according to an official order issued on Monday.
NFSG Clears Path for Director and Additional Economic Adviser Roles
Consequent upon the grant of NFSG, the eligible officers may now be re-designated as Director or Additional Economic Adviser in any Ministry, Department, or Organisation of the Government of India, depending on administrative requirements and postings.
The NFSG is a crucial career milestone that places officers in a higher pay and responsibility bracket, enabling them to handle policy formulation, economic analysis, advisory roles, and inter-ministerial coordination at a senior level.
Officers Currently in Junior Administrative Grade
All officers granted NFSG belong to the 2013 batch and are presently serving in the Junior Administrative Grade of the Indian Economic Service. With this upgradation, they become eligible for senior policy and advisory positions, strengthening the government’s economic governance framework.
