38 IAS Officers Transferred in Tamil Nadu; Supriya Sahu Reassigned as Environment Secy, Alby John Appointed MD of TNPGCL

Chennai: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government transferred 38 IAS officers across key departments and districts, affecting 15 major departments and various district-level officials.

Among the key appointments, 1991 batch IAS officer Supriya Sahu has been reassigned as the Secretary of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests Department, marking her return to a critical role in environmental governance. 2013 batch IAS officer Alby John Varghese has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL), taking over a key post in the state’s power sector.

Key Appointments:

  • Supriya Sahu, who was serving as secretary, Health and Family Welfare, has been reinstated as the Secretary of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests Department.
  • P. Senthil Kumar has been appointed as the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department.
  • J. Radhakrishnan will now serve as the Chairman and Managing Director of TANGEDCO and Chairman of Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited.

Further changes in senior positions include:

  • J. Jayakanthan is appointed as Secretary of Public Works Department.
  • Mangat Ram Sharma will now head the Secretary of Water Resources Department.
  • B. Chandramohan takes charge as Secretary of School Education Department, while C. Samayamoorthy will be the new Secretary of Higher Education Department.
  • G. Prakash is assigned as the Secretary of Human Resources Management Department, and K. Gopal will oversee the Special Initiatives Department.
  • K. Manivasan has been appointed as the Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Endowments Department, and Satyabrata Sahoo will now head the Cooperation, Food, and Consumer Protection Department.

District Collectors and Other Key Roles:

  • Pavankumar G. Giriyappavanar has been posted as the new Coimbatore Collector, and Ranjeet Singh is appointed as the Theni Collector.
  • Other notable district-level appointments include V.S. Narayana Sarma as the Additional Collector (Development) in Chengalpattu and Sanket Balwant Waghe, N. Ponmani, A. Catherine Saranya, and Arpit Jain posted as Additional Collectors in Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Erode, respectively.

The reshuffle also saw key posts in various government corporations and boards. T.N. Venkatesh assumes the role of Chairman and Managing Director of Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Limited, and Kiran Gurrala takes over as the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. Additionally, Alby John Varghese will serve as the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL).

New Leadership in Health and Social Welfare:

  • S. Vineet is appointed as the Mission Director of the National Health Mission in Tamil Nadu and Joint Secretary in Health and Family Welfare Department.
  • S. Madhumathi will serve as the new Secretary of Welfare of Differently-Abled Persons.
  • V. Kalaiarasi has been named as the Special Secretary in Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Minorities Welfare Department.

With these new appointments, the state government aims to enhance governance across its departments and districts. The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the administration and improve the functioning of crucial public services.
