Following the urban body and panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh, the state government has undertaken a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring five IAS officers, including the Collectors of Durg and Dhamtari districts. Additionally, a new Raipur Municipal Commissioner has been appointed. Speculations about large-scale transfers had been circulating since the ruling party secured a major victory in the urban body elections.

In the latest appointments, Mr. Abhijit Singh (2012-batch IAS officer) has been assigned as the Collector of Durg, while Mr. Avinash Mishra (2018-batch IAS officer), previously Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation, has been designated as the Collector of Dhamtari. Meanwhile, Mr. Vishwa Deep (2019-batch IAS officer) has been appointed as the Raipur Municipal Commissioner, and Mr. Kumar Vishwas Ranjan (IAS) has been named as the Chief Executive Officer of Raipur Zila Panchayat. Ms. Rena Jameel (2019-batch IAS officer) has been given additional charge as Deputy Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industry, alongside her current role as Secretary, Public Service Commission.
The changes come as Ms. Richa Prakash (2014-batch IAS officer), the outgoing Collector of Durg, and Ms. Namrata Gandhi (2013-batch IAS officer), the outgoing Collector of Dhamtari, have been relieved for central deputation. Both officers are senior IAS officers.
The General Administration Department issued the transfer orders on Wednesday evening, with Deputy Secretary Anvesh Dhritalhare signing the official notification. The government has termed these transfers as a routine process, primarily necessitated by the central deputation of two IAS officers.
