Odisha is grappling with a shortage of IAS and IPS officers, as revealed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly. Replying to a query from BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo, the CM stated that 66 IAS and 69 IPS posts remain vacant in the state government.

Providing details, he informed that 182 Odisha-cadre IAS officers are currently serving in various positions, while 66 posts are unfilled against a sanctioned strength of 248. Additionally, two IAS officers are on inter-cadre deputation, while 22 are posted on Central deputation.
Similarly, out of 195 sanctioned IPS posts, 69 are vacant. The CM’s statement also highlighted that 10 IPS officers have been on Central deputation for more than five years. The government has enclosed a detailed list of IAS and IPS officers serving on the Central deputation.
