New Delhi: The government has promoted nine Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers to the rank of Chief Commissioner/Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes.
The promotions will take effect from the date the officers assume charge of their respective posts.
The officers promoted include eight from the 1993 batch of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), along with K.S. Ravichandran, who belongs to the 1992 batch.

The officers promoted to the rank of Chief Commissioner/Director General are:
- Satyajit Singh — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Ved Prakash Shukla — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- N. Sridhar — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Jaideep P. — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Gurusharan Singh — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Vidhyadhar Namdeorao Thete — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Kiran Verma — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- Arvinder Singh Ranga — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1993 batch
- K.S. Ravichandran — IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 1992 batch
Promotions Effective From Date of Joining
According to the government order, the promotions will come into effect from the date each officer assumes chargeof the promoted post.
The elevation places the officers in the Chief Commissioner/Director General rank within the Customs and Indirect Taxes administration.
Majority of Officers From 1993 Batch
A notable feature of the promotion list is that eight of the nine officers belong to the 1993 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes).
The only officer from a different batch is K.S. Ravichandran, who is a 1992-batch IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer.
The promotions are part of the government’s regular process of elevating senior officers to higher positions in the indirect tax administration.
