In an unfortunate incident, a 32-year old forest guard was trampled to death by a wild elephant. The incident took place on Saturday while Gaurav Kumar (forest guard) was on patrol duty in the Sendhli forest division at the Beriwada forest range of Rajaji Tiger Reserve.

Kumar was immediately taken to a government hospital in Haridwar by the other guards who were also patrolling the forest range. However, the doctors declared him dead. The senior officials stated that Kumar was also carrying a rifle but the wild jumbo gave him no chance to defend himself.
