New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved an extension in the additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam, for Abhishek Ranjan, a 2008-batch officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS).
Ranjan will continue in the role until November 30, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He currently holds the position of CVO at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), Kolkata.
Extension Formalised Through Defence Production Order
The extension was formalised via an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Defence Production (Ref: 2(21)/2014/HSL/D(NS-II)), dated July 14, 2025. The tenure covers six months starting from June 1, 2025.
This decision ensures uninterrupted vigilance oversight at HSL—a key Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) under the Ministry of Defence.
Dual Responsibilities Reflect Government’s Trust
With this extension, Ranjan will shoulder dual responsibilities at both HSL and GRSE. The continuation of his charge highlights the government’s confidence in his administrative acumen and leadership integrity.
The move is seen as critical for HSL, given its strategic role in India’s shipbuilding capabilities, particularly in supporting naval modernization and indigenization efforts.
