Srinagar: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of inter-cadre deputation for two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the AGMUT cadre, covering the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, according to official orders issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
Extension Details
Basharat Qayoom, IAS (Jharkhand 2016 batch): His deputation to the AGMUT cadre has been extended by one year beyond February 23, 2026, in relaxation of the existing policy. The approval was issued via an ACC order dated February 10, 2026, following a reference from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on January 28, 2026.
Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, IAS (Rajasthan 2016 batch): His inter-cadre deputation to AGMUT has been extended by one year beyond February 15, 2026, also in relaxation of prevailing policy. The ACC order was issued on February 6, 2026.
Significance
The AGMUT cadre allows officers from other states to serve in the Union Territories of Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring administrative flexibility and addressing cadre requirements.
The extensions indicate continuity in administrative leadership in the region and support ongoing governance and development initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
