Rajesh Gupta Gets Two-Year Extension as Joint Secretary, MHA
Rajesh Gupta (IRSEE:2001) has been granted a two-year extension in his central deputation as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the official order, his tenure has been extended for two years beyond April 15, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Background
Rajesh Gupta has been serving as Joint Secretary in the MHA since October 2024, when he was shifted from NITI Aayog.
Earlier, he was appointed as Director in NITI Aayog in April 2022 for a five-year tenure. His move to the Ministry of Home Affairs marked a key administrative transition, and the latest extension ensures continuity in his role at the Centre.
Nirmod Kumar Gets Extension as Director, MeitY Till February 2028
In a separate order, Nirmod Kumar (IRSEE:2006) has been granted a two-year extension in his central deputation as Director in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
His tenure has been extended beyond February 22, 2026, up to February 22, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Background
Nirmod Kumar has been serving as Director in MeitY since February 23, 2021, when he was appointed for a five-year tenure.
Just before the completion of his original tenure, the ACC approved the extension, ensuring continuity in his role within the Ministry’s digital governance and technology initiatives.
Continuity in Key Ministries
The extensions of both officers underline the government’s emphasis on administrative continuity in critical ministries such as Home Affairs and Electronics & IT, especially at a time when governance, digital transformation, and internal security remain priority areas.
The approvals by the ACC formalize their continued service at the Centre beyond their original deputation timelines.
