The Appointments Committee of Cabinet recently approved the promotion of several senior bureaucrats posted at the Joint Secretary level to the Additional Secretary/ Secretary rank.

The officers in concern are:

  • Mr. Rajiv Jalota (1988-batch IAS officer), last posted as Chairperson of Mumbai Port Trust, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post from the level of Joint Secretary to Secretary until September 30th, 2024.
  • Mr. Manoj Sahay (1994-batch IA&AS officer), last posted as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post to the level of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, for a term up to August 9th, 2025.
  • Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar (1995-batch IAS officer), last posted as Joint Secretary, has received an extension in upgrading his post to the level of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, for a term up to August 9th, 2025.
  • Mr. Puneet Kansal (1996 batch IAS officer), last posted as Joint Secretary, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post to the level of Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, for a term up to August 9th, 2025.
  • Mr. Nitishwar Kumar (1996-batch IAS officer), last posted as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post to the level of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Women and Child Development for a term up to September 30th, 2025.
  • Mr. Nitesh Kumar Vyas (1996-batch IAS officer), last posted as Deputy Election Commissioner, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post from the level of Joint Secretary to that of Additional Secretary in the Election Commission of India, for a term up to August 9th, 2025.
  • Mr. Minhaj Alam (1996-batch IAS officer), last posted as Joint Secretary, has received an extension in the upgradation of his post from the level of Joint Secretary to that of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, for a term up to March 31st, 2025.
