Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has secured top national recognition in the export sector after winning first place in the Strategic Electronics / Defence Electronics (Non-MSME) category at the ESC National Export Excellence Awards 2026.

The award marks another major milestone for the Bengaluru-headquartered defence public sector enterprise as it continues expanding its footprint in international defence electronics markets.

The recognition was announced on March 24 and reflects BEL’s growing strength in strategic exports, advanced electronics manufacturing and international market competitiveness.

Award Presented by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal

The award was presented by Arjun Ram Meghwal.

On behalf of BEL, the honour was received by Srinivas Rao HP and Manoj Dwivedi.

Both officers represented BEL’s international marketing division, which has played a key role in strengthening the company’s overseas defence outreach.

Recognition Reflects BEL’s Export Expansion Strategy

The award highlights BEL’s strong performance in strategic exports at a time when Indian defence manufacturing is increasingly targeting international markets.

BEL has steadily expanded exports of defence electronics systems, radars, communication platforms and specialised military equipment to multiple countries.

Industry observers view this recognition as a reflection of the company’s ability to compete globally in a high-technology segment traditionally dominated by established international defence manufacturers.

Defence Electronics Segment Gains International Visibility

Winning in the Strategic Electronics / Defence Electronics category reinforces BEL’s standing as one of India’s most important defence electronics exporters.

The category recognises companies demonstrating strong export performance, innovation capability, quality standards and international business execution.

The award also reflects BEL’s ability to align product quality with global defence procurement expectations.

Innovation and Quality Drive BEL’s International Position

BEL’s continued export growth has been driven by a combination of indigenous design capability, technology partnerships and product adaptation for international buyers.

The company has increasingly focused on export-oriented manufacturing while maintaining its core role in India’s strategic defence ecosystem.

Its products span radar systems, electronic warfare systems, communication networks, surveillance technologies and battlefield electronics.

Global Collaborations Strengthening BEL’s Reach

BEL’s international growth strategy has also involved expanding collaborations with overseas partners and participating in global defence exhibitions and procurement platforms.

The latest recognition is expected to further strengthen BEL’s visibility among international defence buyers.

BEL’s Position in India’s Defence Manufacturing Ecosystem

As one of India’s leading defence public sector enterprises, BEL remains central to the country’s indigenous defence manufacturing ambitions.

The award comes at a time when India is actively pushing defence exports as part of its broader strategic manufacturing policy.

For BEL, the recognition adds to its credibility as both a domestic strategic supplier and a rising international defence technology player.
