A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) who was investing all the aspects of Kanpur ambush by the gangster Vikas Dubey has submitted its report to the state government. In the report submitted earlier in this week, the team has pointed out connections between various senior police officers including a DIG rank officer with the gang. They have also recommended strict against the more than 25 police officers of Lucknow and Kanpur. It includes an additional superintendent of police (ASP) and two deputy superintendents of police (DSPs).
According to the report, these officials didn’t just have connections with Dubey but also helped in their work. They didn’t take strict action against them even after getting several complaints. A DSP rank officer failed to provide information about the Dubey’s gang. That is the reason why the SIT advised action against. Similarly, other officers role were also investigated and actions are advised accordingly.
Let it be noted that on 3rd July Vikas Dubey and his gang members killed eight police personnel in an ambush during a raid on his house at Bikru village in Kanpur district. The killed police personnel also included SP Devendra Mishra. On 9th July, the police arrested him in Ujjain. He was killed on 10th July while being taken from Ujjain to Kanpur after his vehicle met with an accident.
