In a significant boost to West Bengal’s developmental machinery, Ms. Aditi Choudhary, a 2014 batch IAS officer, has been appointed the new CEO of the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority. Her elevation is being viewed as a strategic move by the administration to strengthen governance and accelerate ongoing infrastructure and urban development initiatives. The state government, led by Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee, issued the fresh appointment orders as part of a broader administrative reshuffle designed to enhance efficiency across departments.

Ms. Aditi Choudhary’s New Leadership Role

Ms. Choudhary, known for her steady administrative approach and result-oriented work style, is expected to play a pivotal role in driving regional development projects in the Asansol–Durgapur belt—one of West Bengal’s most critical industrial and urban clusters. Her appointment also comes at a time when the state is focusing on tightening administrative coordination to improve service delivery and expedite developmental programmes.

Other Transfers Strengthening West Bengal Administration

The West Bengal government has also made several additional changes. Ms. Ekam J. Singh, a 2020 batch IAS officer, has been appointed Commissioner of the Asansol Municipal Corporation, replacing Ms. Choudhary. Earlier, she had been moved from ADM, Malda to CEO of the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority on November 20.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bharat Singh has taken over as Sub-Divisional Officer of Dinhata Cooch Behar after serving as Joint Secretary in the Tourism Department. Additional appointments include Mr. Kaushik Shaha as Senior Special Secretary in the School Education Department, Mr. Rajat Nanda as Special Secretary in the L&LR, RR&R Department, and Mr. Jitin Yadav as Special Secretary in the Technology and Biotechnology Department.

UP Makes Strategic Bureaucratic Assignments

In Uttar Pradesh, the government led by Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath has also issued transfer orders to bolster administrative operations. Mr. Rajesh Kumar has been appointed Chief Development Officer of Chitrakoot, transitioning from his earlier role as Additional District Magistrate, Land/Teacher in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Additionally, Ms. Anushka Sharma, who had been awaiting posting, has now been appointed Joint Magistrate of Pratapgarh, marking a new phase in her administrative career.
