In a significant move, the Government of India has directed three Odisha-cadre IPS officers to join Central deputation. This decision comes shortly after the appointment of IPS officer DS Kutey as the Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General.

According to reports, the officers directed to go on deputation are Asheet Kumar Panigrahi (1997 batch), Amitabh Thakur (1998 batch), and Rajesh Kumar (1998 batch). These officers are set to be appointed as Inspectors General at the Centre’s Vigilance Status.

It has been confirmed that no criminal, HRPC-related, or Vigilance-related cases or inquiries are pending against any of the officers, clearing the way for their transfer to central positions.

This development follows the recent appointment of 2004-batch Odisha-cadre IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh as the Inspector General (IG) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for a tenure of five years. The appointments of these officers to key positions reflect the growing prominence of Odisha-cadre officers in national law enforcement agencies.
