Shimla/New Delhi: The Government of Himachal Pradesh has appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ajay Kumar Yadav (IPS: 1996: HP) as the new Principal Resident Commissioner (PRC) at the state’s office in New Delhi. The official order was issued recently, ending Yadav’s wait for a posting.
From Crime & Special Task Force to New Delhi Role
Prior to this appointment, Yadav served as Additional Director General (ADG), Crime and Special Task Force in the Himachal Pradesh Police. With this new assignment, he succeeds Sushil Kumar Singla (IFS: 1994: HP), who was holding the PRC position as an additional charge.
Yadav’s posting is seen as a key administrative move by the state government, particularly in ensuring effective coordination between Himachal Pradesh and central ministries, as well as providing support services to citizens and officials based in the national capital.
Strategic Role in New Delhi
The Principal Resident Commissioner’s role is crucial in representing state interests at the Centre, coordinating with various union ministries, and facilitating smooth functioning of state affairs in the capital. With Yadav’s appointment, the state has opted for a senior officer with deep administrative and policing experience.
