Senior Indian diplomat Alok Ranjan Jha, a 2002 batch IFS officer, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Zambia. Currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Belarus, Jha is expected to take on his new role shortly.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the appointment on December 19, 2024, highlighting Jha’s extensive experience in diplomacy.
Over his career, he has held key positions in Indian missions abroad and at the MEA headquarters in New Delhi. Before his posting in Belarus, he served as Joint Secretary, overseeing establishment matters and global estate management.
