Rewa: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, participated in the ‘Krishak Sammelan’ held today at Basaman Mama Gau-Vansh Wildlife Park in Rewa. During the event, progressive farmers contributing to innovations in natural farming were honoured with Sankalp Patra certificates in recognition of their efforts.
The event aimed to promote natural farming practices among farmers and encourage diversified income sources through animal husbandry and dairy production, ensuring sustainable livelihoods.
Amit Shah on Rewa’s Development and Infrastructure
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shah highlighted that the Rewa region is emerging as a rapidly developing area in Madhya Pradesh. Key developments include:
- Road connectivity from Rewa to Jabalpur
- 24-hour flight services from Rewa Airport to Indore and Delhi
Shah emphasized that Rewa’s progress in infrastructure, coupled with sustainable farming and dairy initiatives, will enhance the income and prosperity of farmers in the region.

Promoting Natural Farming
Minister Shah underscored the importance of organic and natural farming, stating that chemical fertilizers are the root cause of many diseases. He highlighted that natural farming:
- Ensures higher-quality, safe agricultural produce
- Increases farmers’ income
- Saves water
- Reduces health risks for consumers
He mentioned that around 4 million farmers across India have adopted natural farming practices, demonstrating increased productivity without compromising yield. Shah added that 400 laboratories are being set up nationwide to support farmers with soil testing, produce certification, and quality assurance.
Basaman Mama Gau-Vansh Project: A Model for Farmers
The Minister praised the Basaman Mama Gau-Vansh Project in Rewa, describing it as an innovative initiative that integrates cow-based natural farming, dairy production, and sustainable agriculture. He noted that the project can generate income of up to ₹1.25 lakh per acre, offering a model for small and marginal farmers.
The project also includes a gaushala (cow shelter) and a complete natural farming ecosystem using cow dung-based fertilizers, demonstrating a scalable model for rural prosperity.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Farmer Welfare
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted that both Central and State Governments are committed to improving farmers’ livelihoods. He noted that initiatives under the Cooperation Ministry and MoUs with the National Dairy Development Board aim to enhance farmers’ income through milk production and allied activities.
The CM also mentioned increased financial support for urban gaushalas, raising incentives from ₹20 per cow to ₹40 per cow to strengthen the management of stray and unclaimed cattle.

The Rewa Krishak Sammelan served as a platform to showcase the synergy between infrastructure development, natural farming, and rural livelihoods. Minister Shah emphasized that expanding natural farming practices and modernizing dairy production will not only improve farmers’ income but also ensure sustainable agricultural practices across the region.
This initiative reflects a growing commitment to inclusive rural development, farmer prosperity, and environmental sustainability in Madhya Pradesh.
