Former IPS officer Mr. Amitabh Kumar Das on Saturday issued a strong counter to Janshakti Janata Dal’s national president Mr. Tej Pratap Yadav, stating that he cannot tarnish an image that is “already damaged.” He remarked that Mr. Yadav’s own family had distanced him long ago, and this fact alone underscores the controversy surrounding his public conduct.

Mr. Das further commented that Mr. Yadav is “less educated,” suggesting that he may not fully understand the context in which the former IPS officer made his statements. He asserted that his remarks fall well within the scope of his fundamental rights and emphasized that he continues to stand by every word.
Right to Expression and Counter Legal Action
The retired IPS officer stated that he, too, could file a police complaint if needed. While taking a jibe at Mr. Yadav, he used the proverb “Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Daantey,” implying that the politician was wrongly accusing others to distract from his own actions.
A Serious Allegation of Threat
In a startling statement, Mr. Das claimed that there is a conspiracy to murder him. He informed the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Patna that if any harm befalls him, Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar would be held responsible. The allegation has added a dramatic twist to an already heated political exchange.
Backdrop: Residence Notice After Election Loss
The controversy intensified following a notice issued to Mr. Tej Pratap Yadav by the Building Construction Department, asking him to vacate his government residence after the party’s heavy electoral defeat. Reacting to this, Mr. Das mocked the situation, remarking that Mr. Yadav would not face difficulties as he “has two wives and can stay with either.”
Taking offense to these comments, Mr. Yadav lodged a complaint at the Secretariat police station in Patna. He accused Mr. Das of making derogatory remarks about his family and urged the authorities to investigate and take strict action.
Tej Pratap Yadav’s Response
Mr. Yadav later wrote on Facebook that Mr. Amitabh Kumar Das had attempted to defame him through false commentary on his personal and family matters. He described the statements as deeply hurtful and unacceptable, asserting that such remarks cross all limits of decency.
