The Andhra Pradesh government has recently suspended senior IPS officer N Sanjay (1996 batch), former Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) with the CID, following allegations of financial misappropriation exceeding Rs. 1 crore.
A Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) investigation uncovered irregularities during Sanjay’s tenure as Director General of the AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services. This action follows an operation led by Officer Sanjay during his tenure as CID chief, including the September 23rd arrest of former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. While his involvement in high-profile cases brought public attention, the current allegations have raised serious questions about his use of government resources.
He is accused of colluding with Vijayawada-based Sauthrika Technologies to issue payments despite only 14% of contracted work being completed. Additionally, over Rs. 1 crore was allegedly funneled to a non-existent company for SC/ST awareness workshops.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad (1987-batch IAS officer) issued the suspension order, citing clear evidence of misuse of government funds. This move underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining administrative integrity.
