Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh: Twenty-eight probationary IPS officers currently undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad visited the Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters at Mangalagiri on Monday as part of their study and cultural tour.
During the visit, the officers had an insightful interaction with Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta, 1992 batch IPS officer, who highlighted the state’s efforts to tackle crime through modern technologies and innovative initiatives.
DGP Highlights Technology and Community Policing
DGP Gupta emphasized the critical role of technology in enhancing policing efficiency. He elaborated on various tools and initiatives such as the Sakthi App, which helps in crime reporting and swift response, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in crime detection and prevention.
He also discussed the integration of technology in traffic control, cybercrime prevention, and efforts to combat drug trafficking and crimes against women. Stressing the importance of staying updated, the DGP urged the probationary officers to gain deep knowledge of the latest technologies to stay ahead of criminals.
In addition to technological skills, he advised the officers to learn the local language and engage with the community directly to effectively maintain law and order.
Officials Share Experience and Knowledge
The visit also included a PowerPoint presentation by Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials, showcasing the development of Amaravati, the state’s capital.
Senior police officials including Additional DGP (Law and Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy, IGP (Operations and Technical Services) Ch. Srikanth, IGP B. Raja Kumari, EAGLE head and IGP Ake Ravi Krishna, and DIG G. Satya Yesubabu shared their valuable experiences and presented case studies, enriching the learning experience for the young officers.
Promoting Modern and Community-Centric Policing
The visit aims to prepare the probationary officers to tackle evolving challenges in law enforcement by blending technology, community engagement, and on-ground policing.
This initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh Police’s vision to create a smart, responsive, and people-friendly police force capable of addressing contemporary crimes effectively.
