Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Secretary K Vijayanand recently took action against senior IPS officer P V Sunil Kumar, suspending him due to alleged unauthorized foreign trips during the previous YSRCP regime. Kumar, a DGP-ranked officer awaiting assignment, faced accusations of deviating from approved travel plans while visiting countries like Georgia, the UAE, Sweden, the USA, and the UK between 2019 and 2024.
According to Vijayanand, Kumar’s actions demonstrated a willful disregard for established procedures, constituting gross negligence, indiscipline, and serious misconduct. The suspension order cited instances where Kumar allegedly traveled to destinations like the UAE within approved travel periods for other countries, prompting disciplinary proceedings for repeated violations.
