Deputy Commissioner Ms. Vishakha Yadav of Kurung Kumey district has been conferred with the esteemed ‘Best Preventive State’ award by the State Election Commission (SEC). This recognition acknowledges her outstanding contributions in ensuring law and order during the electoral process in the sensitive district, which is located near the Indo-China border.

A 2020-batch IAS officer, Ms. Yadav has served as the district’s Deputy Commissioner for the past year. Her leadership was instrumental in maintaining peaceful and fair elections, and her efforts to prevent electoral malpractices have earned widespread praise.

In addition to her work in electoral administration, Ms. Yadav has demonstrated exceptional leadership with the launch of the “Digi Kaksha” project. This initiative introduced smart classrooms in government schools across Kurung Kumey and Tirap districts, significantly improving educational access in remote areas.

Ms. Yadav’s journey to success began in New Delhi’s Dwarka, where she excelled academically from an early age. An engineering graduate from Delhi Technological University (DTU), she transitioned from being a software developer to pursuing a career in the civil services.

Her UPSC journey was marked by perseverance and resilience. Despite facing setbacks in her initial attempts, she continued to push forward, dedicating countless hours to preparation and refining her skills. Drawing inspiration from her family’s support, she achieved an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) 6 on her third attempt, a testament to her hard work and determination.
