New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has appointed Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries) at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), to take on the additional charge of Director (Pipelines). This interim arrangement begins on 1 July 2025 and will remain effective for three months or until a regular appointment is made, whichever is earlier.
Leadership Transition Follows Retirement of Senthil Kumar
The appointment comes in the wake of the retirement of Nachimuthu Senthil Kumar, who served as Director (Pipelines) at Indian Oil. He officially vacated the role on 30 June 2025, and ceased to be a Director on the Board as of 1 July 2025.

Arvind Kumar: A Career Spanning Over Three Decades
Arvind Kumar joined Indian Oil in 1990, bringing with him over 30 years of diverse experience in:
- Engineering and Project Management
- Plant Operations and Maintenance
- Materials and Contract Management
He has served as the Unit Head of Mathura Refinery and later as Executive Director (Projects), where he was instrumental in driving key projects across Indian Oil’s refineries and petrochemical divisions.
A Strategic Role During a Crucial Transition
The Pipelines Division of Indian Oil plays a critical role in India’s energy infrastructure, overseeing the transport of petroleum products, crude oil, and natural gas through one of the largest pipeline networks in Asia. Kumar’s dual leadership role comes at a time when infrastructure expansion and operational efficiency remain high on the strategic agenda.
His project execution background and proven leadership within the Refineries Division are expected to support smooth functioning and continuity in pipeline operations.
