RAIPUR: On the occasion of the birth centenary of Baba Kartik Oraon, the revered educator and social reformer, a Bhoomi Pujan (foundation-laying ceremony) was held today in Ambikapur. Chattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the event as the chief guest, paying homage to the iconic tribal leader.

CM Highlights Baba Kartik Oraon’s Contributions

Paying floral tribute, CM Vishnu Deo Sai described Baba Kartik Oraon as “the pride of the tribal society.” He noted that despite pursuing higher education abroad, Baba Kartik Oraon “never abandoned his faith and culture.” Following the path of his ancestors, he attained the highest education and dedicated his life to guiding society toward enlightenment.

CM Sai recalled Baba Kartik Oraon’s inspirational message: “The more we learn, the more we build society.” He emphasized that Baba Kartik Oraon devoted his life to the upliftment of the tribal community, promotion of education, and fostering social unity. “We must follow the path he showed and commit ourselves to the holistic development of society,” the Chief Minister added.

New Memorial to Commemorate Baba Kartik Oraon

During the ceremony, CM Vishnu Deo Sai performed the foundation ritual for the upcoming Baba Kartik Oraon Chowk near the Municipal Corporation office in Ambikapur.

He announced an allocation of ₹40.79 lakh for the construction of the statue and the memorial square. “This site will stand as a lasting symbol of Baba Kartik Oraon’s ideals, vision, and contributions,” the Chief Minister said.

Leaders Stress Inspiration and Unity

Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam described Baba Kartik Oraon as a “source of inspiration” and urged citizens to continue along the path he defined, emphasizing the importance of traditions, customs, and cultural identity in collective progress.
