The Vice President of India, Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar urged the civil servants to be “motivational, inspirational and epicentres of change”. He also mentioned that citizens look up to them as role models, so young civil servants should exemplify their conduct through modesty, virtuosity and openness in the execution of their roles. The Vice President was addressing 2021 batch Officer Trainees of the Indian Administrative Service at the Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas.
Emphasising that their imprint on society would be indelible, the Vice President said that they were entering public service at a juncture where transformative changes were taking place in the country. He also said that they are critical human resource for national progress and their contributions in Amrit Kaal would prove to be a game-changer.
During his address, he appreciated the enabling ecosystem of government initiatives prevalent in the country and praised the recent achievements of the nation, such as the passing of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar south pole.
Along with him, Secretary to the Vice President, Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ms. S. Radha Chauhan, Additional Secretary, Mr. Rahul Singh and other senior officers were also present at the event.
