Kolar Gold Fields: BEML Limited has unveiled a state‑of‑the‑art Long Reach Excavator integrated with a dredge pump, marking a significant milestone in India’s dredging and desilting technology. The launch, held at BEML’s Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) Complex, aims to strengthen the nation’s inland waterways, coastal infrastructure, and sustainable water management initiatives.
First‑of‑Its‑Kind Solution by an Indian OEM
BEML has become the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to develop and offer an excavator fitted with a dredge pump. This innovative solution has been developed in collaboration with Dragflow S.r.l., Italy, integrating advanced dredging capabilities into a single machine.
The new equipment is designed to efficiently remove silt, sediment, and debris from rivers, canals, reservoirs, mines, and coastal areas, addressing critical challenges in water infrastructure maintenance and development.

The Long Reach Excavator with an integrated dredge pump offers several operational advantages:

The equipment was officially rolled out by Mr. Anandji Prasad, Director (Technical–Operations) of Western Coalfields Limited, during a ceremony at the KGF complex. The launch event was attended by senior representatives from the Indian Navy, Western Coalfields Limited, and BEML, including Mr. Yogananda G., Complex Head of KGF.
