New Delhi: BEML Ltd, a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has announced the re-appointment of two Independent Directors to its Board. As per an official exchange filing, the President of India has approved the re-appointment of Vikas Ramkrishna Kakatkar and Siva Makutam as Independent Directors on the Board of BEML Ltd for a term of one year, effective April 17, 2025, or until further orders.
Vikas Ramkrishna Kakatkar
Mr Kakatkar is a highly experienced professional with a rich background in law, business, and education. He holds degrees in Bachelor of Arts (Hons.), Bachelor of Law, and MBA from the University of Pune. His early career included roles in marketing at Kirloskar Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and Statfield Systems (Coating) Pvt. Ltd. in Pune from 1979 to 1981.
Since 1982, Kakatkar has been engaged in the construction business, focusing on residential and commercial building projects in Pune. He also serves as a Management Consultant for Perfect Machine Tools Ltd. and its group companies, and is a Founder Director of Jai Hospitals Pvt. Ltd., Nashik.
A prominent figure in the fields of education and social development, he has been associated with the Deccan Education Society since 2001. During this time, he played a pivotal role in establishing new institutions and campuses, including expansion into Andhra Pradesh, and has been instrumental in facilitating international academic collaborations.
Siva Makutam
An accomplished technocrat, Siva Makutam graduated in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from BITS Pilani in 2001. He is a seasoned expert in semiconductor electronics and information technology, with a career spanning the full product lifecycle — from specification to silicon design and delivery.
Currently serving as a Senior Director at a leading chip design multinational, he brings deep domain expertise and leadership in product engineering. Shri Makutam has also contributed to public service, having worked as Principal Consultant to the Department of IT, Electronics & Communications, Government of Andhra Pradesh during 2017–18.
His work currently emphasizes “Make in India” initiatives and the adoption of next-generation technologies to strengthen India’s tech ecosystem and semiconductor industry.
The re-appointment of these two professionals reinforces BEML’s commitment to strong corporate governance, strategic leadership, and industry expertise as the company continues its critical role in defense production, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
