New Delhi: BEML Limited has once again demonstrated its engineering prowess by contributing mission-critical aerospace structures to the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) successful LVM3-M6 launch. The mission, executed from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, marked another major milestone in India’s expanding space ambitions. Aptly dubbed India’s ‘Baahubali,’ the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3) successfully deployed the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, showcasing the country’s heavy-lift capabilities.
BEML’s Critical Contribution: The Strap-On Base Shroud
BEML’s role in the mission was through the supply of the Strap-On Base Shroud (SBS) airborne structures—a vital element of the LVM3-M6 configuration. Designed with extreme precision, the SBS components involved advanced machining, conical rolling, jettison motor integration, and intricate conical panel sub-assemblies. Every part was manufactured in-house at BEML’s Aerospace Facility in Mysuru and subsequently assembled at a dedicated aerospace assembly line in Bengaluru, set up specifically for the LVM3 programme.

End-to-End Execution and Continued Commitment
The successful delivery of the SBS structures highlights BEML’s capability to provide high-reliability, mission-critical aerospace solutions that meet ISRO’s stringent quality standards and timelines. The company is not stopping here; it is currently manufacturing seven additional light-alloy airborne structures for the LVM3 programme, reflecting a long-term commitment to India’s space initiatives.
Strengthening India’s Space Ambitions
With this launch, BEML reinforces its position as a trusted partner in India’s space ecosystem. Its precision-engineered components are instrumental in ensuring the success of flagship projects like LVM3, contributing directly to the nation’s growing global presence in space technology.
