Bhopal: A delegation of MLAs from Betul district, led by state BJP president and Betul MLA Hemant Khandelwal, met Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Friday and expressed gratitude for major development initiatives announced for the district, including the establishment of a medical college and new healthcare facilities.
The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence, where MLAs Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Dr. Yogesh Pandagre, Chandrashekhar Deshmukh, and Gangabai Uike were also present.
Medical College to Boost Healthcare and Education
During the interaction, the legislators thanked the Chief Minister for approving a medical college in the tribal- and rural-dominated Betul district. They said the new institution would significantly improve access to quality healthcare for patients from remote and rural areas, while also strengthening overall health indicators in the region.
The MLAs noted that the medical college, being established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, would also provide local students with better opportunities to pursue medical education closer to home. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, along with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, is scheduled to perform the bhoomi pujan for the medical college at the Kosmi area of Betul on December 23.
Major Infrastructure and Healthcare Approvals
The delegation also expressed appreciation for the approval of a long-pending demand for the installation of a 660 MW power generation unit at the Satpura Thermal Power Station in Sarni, involving an investment of nearly ₹12,000 crore. They described the decision as a major step toward strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure and boosting economic development.
In addition, the MLAs thanked the Chief Minister for sanctioning a 100-bedded hospital in Bhimpur and a 50-bedded hospital in Chicholi, which are expected to improve healthcare services for local residents.
Local Issues Raised
During the meeting, Ghodadongri MLA Gangabai Uike also requested the Chief Minister’s intervention for the resolution of pending land patta cases concerning families in the Chopna area.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav assured the delegation of the government’s continued commitment to the holistic development of Betul district, particularly in the areas of healthcare, infrastructure, and public welfare.
