Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) celebrated its annual BHEL Day with enthusiasm, honoring outstanding employees through its prestigious ‘Excel Awards’. Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, attended as Chief Guest and presented the awards. The event saw the presence of key dignitaries, including Secretary (Heavy Industries) Kamran Rizvi, Joint Secretary Vijay Mittal, BHEL CMD K Sadashiv Murthy, Directors, and employees.
A total of 161 employees from 31 teams received awards in various categories such as Utkrishthta Puraskar for overall excellence, Anusandhan Puraskar for R&D, and Samaj Seva Puraskar for societal contributions. The award amounts ranged from Rs 35,000 to Rs 2.4 lakh per team, with rigorous selection by an external jury.
HD Kumaraswamy praised BHEL’s role in nation-building, highlighting its contributions to energy, infrastructure, defence, and ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. Kamran Rizvi commended BHEL for achieving a record order booking of Rs 78,000 crore in 2023-24 despite market challenges and urged employees to embrace the Prime Minister’s vision to ‘reform, perform, and transform’. The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural program.
