New Delhi: State-owned engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Wednesday announced that it has secured an order worth ₹1,200–1,500 crore from Hindalco Industries Ltd, marking a significant win in the power equipment segment.
Letter of Intent Received from Aditya Aluminium
BHEL stated that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Aditya Aluminium, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries, for the execution of the project. The order reinforces BHEL’s strong position in supplying large-scale power generation equipment in India.
Scope of the Project
The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, unloading and storage, erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee testing of a 2 × 150 MW BTG (Boiler, Turbine, and Generator) package.
The contract excludes civil works.
Project Location and Timeline
The project will be executed at Lapanga in Sambalpur district, Odisha, and is expected to be completed over a period of approximately three years, as per the company’s regulatory filing.
Boost to BHEL’s Order Book
This order is expected to strengthen BHEL’s order book and highlights continued investment by industrial players like Hindalco in captive power generation infrastructure.
