New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has entered into a Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA) with E2S Company Limited, Republic of Korea, to enhance its capabilities in static and brushless excitation systems for synchronous machines in India and global markets. The agreement was signed by Mr. S. M. Ramanathan, Director (Engineering, Research & Development), BHEL, and Mr. Woosik Choi, CEO of E2S, in the presence of senior officials from both companies.

Strategic Collaboration to Boost Excitation System Technology

This collaboration focuses on Static Excitation Systems (SES) and Brushless Excitation Systems (AVR), which are critical for the stable operation of generators in power plants and heavy industries. By joining hands with E2S, BHEL aims to:

  • Design and engineer modern excitation systems
  • Manufacture and install advanced solutions domestically
  • Commission, test, and service these systems globally
  • Retrofit and upgrade existing installations
  • Expand sales in India and overseas markets

This partnership underscores BHEL’s commitment to innovation, global competitiveness, and supporting the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Importance of Excitation Systems in Power Generation

Excitation systems serve as the control backbone of synchronous generators, regulating voltage output and maintaining grid stability. With rising demand for reliable and flexible power infrastructure, especially with renewable energy integration, modern excitation technologies are becoming increasingly essential.

Through this collaboration, BHEL will access E2S’s advanced engineering know-how, design tools, and global best practices, enabling the company to deliver next-generation, reliable, and efficient power solutions.

Strengthening India’s Global Power Equipment Footprint

For over 30 years, E2S has supplied static and brushless excitation control systems for thermal, gas, hydro, and nuclear power plants worldwide. By leveraging E2S technology, BHEL will not only enhance its technological capabilities but also contribute to India’s position as a global hub for high-end power equipment manufacturing.

This TCA aligns with BHEL’s vision to cater to the evolving needs of modern power grids and ensure a future-ready power infrastructure.
