Jharkhand Panchayats to Receive ₹52 Lakh Each as Centre Releases ₹2,254 Crore for Rural Development

BJP Appreciates Centre’s ₹2,254 Crore Grant for Rural Development, Warns of Action Against Misuse or Commission in Panchayat Fund Utilization

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand has expressed gratitude to the Central Government for allocating ₹2,254 crore for the development of panchayats across the state. The funds, aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure, will provide approximately ₹52 lakh to each of the 4,342 panchayats in Jharkhand.

BJP Urges Transparency in Fund Utilization

Addressing a press conference, BJP State Vice President Bhanu Pratap Shahi emphasized the need for complete transparency in spending these funds. He warned that any misuse or corruption, including commission cuts by officials, will lead the party to launch an agitation.

Shahi urged all panchayat heads, ward councilors, members of panchayat committees, district council members, and other local leaders to ensure proper monitoring and utilization of the funds for the benefit of villages.

Funds to Boost Rural Development

Shahi highlighted that the funds are intended for critical village infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, schools, anganwadis, hospitals, and panchayat buildings. The BJP called for the proper utilization of both tied and untied grants, warning against the bureaucratic delays and misuse often associated with state government rules.

“These funds are meant for rural development and must not be diverted or delayed due to commission-based practices,” Shahi said.

Criticism of State Government’s Past Performance

The BJP leader also criticized the Jharkhand government for its alleged inefficiency over the past six years, pointing out that previous grants and schemes were mismanaged. According to Shahi, the state failed to fully implement major schemes such as the PM Awas Yojana and the Nal Jal Yojana, causing delays in benefits reaching the intended beneficiaries.

He further alleged that state authorities often attempt to co-opt central schemes for political branding, which undermines development efforts.

BJP Pledges Vigilance

Shahi assured that the BJP will closely monitor the use of the funds and called on local leaders to actively oversee spending. “If there is any commission or misappropriation, BJP workers will not remain silent,” he said, stressing the party’s commitment to transparent and effective rural development.

The press conference was attended by media coordinators Yogendra Pratap Singh and Ashok Badaik.
