Patna: The Bihar government has decided to continue the ₹4 lakh education loan facility under the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, providing relief to students seeking financial support for higher education.
The Higher Education Department has cancelled its earlier order dated August 19, 2026, and restored the previous arrangement for providing education loans through the Bihar State Education Finance Corporation.
August 19 Order Cancelled
The decision follows a review of the facilities available to students under the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme.
According to the latest notification issued on behalf of Higher Education Department Secretary Rajiv Roshan, the government reconsidered the provisions of the scheme and decided to withdraw the earlier decision.
The notification specifically cancels Resolution No. 1202 dated August 19, 2026, along with the implementation process associated with it.

₹4 Lakh Loan Facility Restored
With the latest decision, eligible students can continue to receive education loans of up to ₹4 lakh through the Bihar State Education Finance Corporation.
The process for providing the loan will continue under the previous arrangement, ensuring that students can seek financial assistance for their higher education without changes introduced by the August 19 order.
Relief for Students
The decision is expected to provide relief to students who depend on education loans to pursue higher studies.
By continuing the existing loan facility, the government has maintained access to financial support for students facing difficulties in meeting the cost of higher education. The move can help students continue their academic plans under the earlier provisions of the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme.
The restoration also brings clarity for students and applicants who may have been uncertain about the impact of the August 19 decision.
