Kawardha: On the very first day of the New Year, a significant initiative was launched to promote tourism in Chhattisgarh. The foundation stone for the Bhormadev Tourism Corridor was laid at the historic and ancient Bhormadev Temple. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹146 crore, was inaugurated by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The ceremony was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, senior ministers, political leaders, and officials.
Inauguration Ceremony and Religious Rituals
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat arrived at Bhormadev via helicopter. He began the visit by performing puja and rituals at the temple, followed by a detailed inspection of the temple premises. The formal foundation stone-laying ceremony took place with pooja and lamp lighting, marking the official launch of the corridor.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shekhawat highlighted Chhattisgarh’s immense tourism potential and applauded the state government’s commitment to development and anti-Naxal initiatives. He emphasized that the Bhormadev Tourism Corridor is just the beginning, and the state will witness several major development projects in the near future, giving Chhattisgarh a new identity across the country.
He further added, “This is not just a project but an opportunity to honor thousands of years of faith and history. Connecting temples across the nation through tourism links citizens to their spiritual heritage, reflecting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Chief Minister’s Announcements
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted that Chhattisgarh is known as the land of Mata Kaushalya, the mother of Lord Ram, and stressed the importance of collective efforts to enhance the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Under the Jan-Man program, tribal Baiga families are being provided with roads, electricity, and water facilities.
The CM also announced the widening and renovation of the road from Bordla to Bhormadev, ensuring improved connectivity to the temple and surrounding areas.
Regional Development through Bhormadev Corridor
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma expressed gratitude to the Union Minister and highlighted that the corridor will not only benefit Bhormadev Temple but also nearby tourist sites and heritage locations, including Cherki Mahal, Madwa Mahal, Ramchua Temple, and Saroda Dam Temple. The project includes beautification of ponds, construction of resting facilities for pilgrims, and other amenities to boost tourism in the region.
Deputy CM Sharma further stated that Bhormadev Temple is situated on a large rock formation and currently lacks a solid foundation. The corridor project includes strengthening the temple’s foundation to ensure its structural safety for future generations.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by several political leaders and officials, including Deputy CM Arun Saw, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal, MP Santosh Pandey, MLA Bhavana Bohra, along with numerous BJP leaders, officials, and staff.
