Gandhinagar: Bhupendra Patel led a unique initiative to promote innovation by directly interacting with high-potential startups during the ‘Startup Samvad’ held in Gandhinagar. The event marked a major step toward positioning Gujarat as a global hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.
Direct Interaction with High-Potential Startups
The Chief Minister engaged with around 24 startups from across India, gaining insights into their innovations and challenges. Startups from sectors including:
- Agriculture (5 startups)
- Healthcare (3 startups)
- Education (6 startups)
- Government and industrial applications (10 startups)
presented their AI-driven solutions during the session.
CM Patel highlighted that Gujarat is rapidly adopting new technologies, building on the strong foundation laid by Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister.
Vision to Make Gujarat a Global AI Hub
Emphasizing future growth, the Chief Minister stated that Gujarat aims to become a leading state in AI implementation. The government is focusing on:
- AI-driven governance
- Transparency and efficiency in administration
- Faster delivery of citizen services
He reiterated that quality and innovation will remain central to technology-driven development.
MoUs Signed to Boost AI Ecosystem
During the event, the State’s Science and Technology Department signed key MoUs with:
- Sarvam AI
- MIKO
As part of the agreement, Sarvam AI will establish a Sovereign AI Park in Gujarat. The facility will include:
- Advanced computing infrastructure
- Research and innovation centres
- Skill development programs
- AI-powered governance solutions
This initiative is expected to generate large-scale employment and strengthen Gujarat’s AI ecosystem over the next five years.
Financial Support Model for AI Startups
The Gujarat government also announced a comprehensive financial assistance model under the AI Innovation Challenge to support startups from idea to deployment.
Proof of Concept (PoC) Funding
- Up to ₹7.5 lakh for moderate projects
- Up to ₹10 lakh for complex projects
- 25% funding released upfront, 75% after successful PoC completion
Deployment Support
- Up to ₹50 lakh for moderate projects
- Up to ₹1 crore for complex projects
Startups will also receive support for up to four years, including access to the Gujarat State Data Centre and AI Centre of Excellence.
Strengthening Innovation and Governance
CM Patel emphasized that startups will have the opportunity to work directly with the government, enabling:
- Faster implementation of AI solutions
- Improved governance efficiency
- Enhanced transparency
- Better citizen-centric services
The initiative is expected to accelerate Gujarat’s digital transformation and strengthen its position as an innovation-driven economy.

The ‘Startup Samvad’ aims to bring startups onto a single platform to align innovation with governance needs. The dialogue explored opportunities in:
