Amidst a recent development, a celebrated lady IPS officer from Bihar, Ms. Kamya Mishra, resigned from the service citing personal reasons. Officer Mishra, a 2019 batch IPS officer, was last posted as the Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) of Darbhanga. He resigned on Monday citing personal reasons.
Ms. Mishra sought VRS by writing to the state government and stated that she wanted to quit her job to “spend time with her family.” This decision to rescind the service before the completion of 20 years will deprive her of any retirement benefits. The Bihar government has not yet taken a final decision in this regard.
A senior government official shared, “Kamya Mishra has resigned from the IPS, the government will take some time to follow the procedure and accept her resignation. During her current posting as rural SP (Darbhanga), she led the SIT team to solve the sensational murder case of Jitan Sahni, father of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni He was killed by miscreants at his ancestral home in Biraul block of Darbhanga district on July 16.“
Ms. Mishra, a native of Odisha, cracked the UPSC CSE and secured an all-India rank of 172 at the age of 22! Initially, she was allotted the Himachal cadre, later she was transferred to the Bihar cadre. She served as the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), ASP (Sadar) and ASP (Secretariat) in the Crime Investigation Department. She was initially posted in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
