The Bihar government has promoted 36 IPS officers, including district Superintendents of Police (SPs), to higher ranks. The state Home Department issued a notification on Monday detailing the advancements, which span officers from the 2007, 2010, and 2012 batches.
Key Promotions:
Promoted to Inspector General (IG) Rank:
- From the 2007 batch, Mr. Daljit Singh, Mr. Vivek Kumar, and Mr. Ranjit Kumar Mishra have been promoted to the rank of IG. However, Mr. Vivek Kumar’s promotion is contingent on completing the fourth phase of mid-career training.
Promoted to Additional Director General (ADG) Rank:
- Mr. Ganesh Kumar, a 2020-batch IPS officer, currently on central deputation, has received a proforma promotion to ADG. This promotion fills the vacancy created by Mr. Jitendra Singh Gangwar’s (1993 batch) elevation to Director General (DG).
Promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rank:
- Eight officers have been promoted to DIG. Among them, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Porika (2010 batch) and Mr. Chandan Kumar Kushwaha (2010 batch) have been promoted with immediate effect. From the 2011 batch, officers including Mr. Har Kishore Rai, Mr. Satya Prakash, and Mr. Ashish Bharti will assume their new roles as DIGs starting January 1st, 2025.
Other Promotions:
Officers such as Mr. Rakesh Kumar (2013 batch), Mr. Rajendra Kumar Bhill (2010 batch), and Ms. Swapna Meshram (2011 batch) have also been elevated in this round of promotions.
