In a major reshuffle within the Bihar Police Department, the Nitish Kumar led state government has reappointed nine senior IPS officers, including eight holding the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and one Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
Pankaj Kumar Darad, a 1995-batch IPS officer who had been awaiting posting after returning from central deputation, has been appointed as the ADGP of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). Darad will also oversee the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) in an additional capacity.
S. Ravindran, also an IPS officer of 1995 batch and currently serving as ADGP of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), has been reassigned as the ADGP of the Bihar State Sports Authority. In addition, he will take on the role of Director General of the Bihar State Sports Academy, Rajgir.
1996 batch IPS officer Amit Kumar Jain, the ADGP of the Bihar Human Rights Commission, will now also serve as the ADGP for the Weaker Section within the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Sudhanshu Kumar, also an IPS officer of 1996 batch and the ADGP in charge of Traffic, has been given the additional responsibility of Additional Commissioner of Civil Defense.
Sunil Kumar, the ADGP of the Special Branch, will also oversee the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) in an additional role.
Kamal Kishore Singh, an ADGP-cum-Additional Commissioner, has been appointed as the ADGP for Budget, Appeal, and Welfare, succeeding Paras Nath, who has been moved to the ADGP position in the CID.
M. R. Nayak, the former ADGP of the ATS, has been reassigned as the ADGP of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), taking over from Ravindran.
Finally, Ms. Kim, formerly DIG of the Special Work Force, has been posted in the CID with similar responsibilities.
