After the recent launch of railway services in the western Diara region of Paru, Muzaffarpur district is poised for another milestone. The Bihar state cabinet has approved the development of a new industrial area on 700 acres of land in the region. This ambitious project will be carried out under the supervision of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and is expected to significantly boost the district’s industrial footprint.
Rs. 2.97 Billion Sanctioned for Land Acquisition
To facilitate the project, the government has sanctioned Rs. 2.97 billion for land acquisition. The planned industrial hub will be strategically located near the under-construction Patna-Bettiah four-lane highway, ensuring excellent road connectivity. According to the proposal submitted to the Industries Department, land parcels have been identified in Chaturbatti, Chiutaha, Bhojpatti Mauja, Harpur, Vishanpur Sariya, and Chainpur Chihuntaha.
The land acquisition will cover:
- 250 acres in Chainpur Chihuntaha
- 150 acres in Chaturbatti
- 120 acres in Harpur
- 95 acres in Bhojpatti
- 85 acres in Vishanpur Sariya
The land mapping for the area has already been submitted along with the project proposal.
Third Industrial Area in Muzaffarpur District
With this new initiative, Paru will become the third industrial area in Muzaffarpur district, after the existing hubs in Bela and Motipur. The district administration is optimistic that this expansion will further enhance the region’s economic profile. The District Magistrate, Mr. Subrata Kumar Sen, has confirmed that the industrial area will be equipped with modern infrastructure, including roads, water supply, electricity, communication networks, and security systems.
Excellent Connectivity to Highway and Railway
The project’s transportation infrastructure is a major highlight. The industrial zone will have dual connectivity—linked to the Patna-Bettiah highway and the Hajipur–Sugauli railway line. This will streamline the movement of raw materials and finished goods, making it a logistically advantageous location for industries. The proximity to these transport corridors is expected to attract significant industrial investments from companies outside the state.
Huge Potential for Agro-Based Industries
Given the region’s strong agricultural base—with high yields of paddy, wheat, maize, and vegetables—the new industrial hub holds promising prospects for agro-based industries. Industry experts believe that rice mills, food processing units, and a full-scale food park could be established in the area. The highway’s completion will also reduce travel time to Patna, accelerating industrial and infrastructural development.
Employment and Economic Growth on the Horizon
The establishment of this industrial area is set to transform the economic landscape of Paru. With new production units and external investments, the region is expected to see a surge in employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly. The project aligns with the Bihar government’s long-term vision to promote industrial decentralization and drive inclusive regional development.
This development marks a significant leap forward for Paru, positioning it as an emerging industrial hub in North Bihar.
