Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar on Thursday instructed the state Education Department to ensure that government school teachers are posted in their preferred blocks or nearby areas. The directive comes in the wake of growing concerns and suggestions regarding the recent teacher transfers across the state.

Taking to social media platform X, Mr. Kumar wrote, “The task of postings of teachers within districts will be carried out by a committee of district officials so that, as far as possible, teachers are posted in their desired blocks or nearby areas.”

Three District Preferences to Be Considered for Inter-District Transfers

Addressing the grievances of teachers affected by inter-district transfers, the Chief Minister announced that teachers will be allowed to choose three districts of preference. Their transfer orders will then be issued in accordance with these options.

“Suggestions are being received from various sources regarding the recent teacher transfers. In the process of reviewing this, I have given clear instructions that teachers facing inter-district transfer issues may submit three district options, and their postings will be made accordingly,” Mr. Kumar stated.

Appeal to Teachers: Focus on Children’s Education

Mr. Nitish Kumar also made an appeal to teachers, emphasising their critical role in shaping the future of Bihar’s children. He urged them to remain committed and not to be anxious about transfers.

“Teachers are very important for the future of children, and therefore, I humbly request that they work diligently for the education of children in Bihar without being anxious about this matter,” he added.

Online Transfer System Rolled Out to Streamline Postings

The state Education Department has recently implemented a new online self-transfer system to make the transfer process more transparent and efficient. This system allows teachers to request postings based on availability and preference, thereby reducing dissatisfaction and addressing the shortage of subject teachers in many districts.

The Chief Minister’s intervention is expected to bring much-needed relief to thousands of teachers and ensure better academic outcomes by resolving staff shortages in schools across Bihar.
