Patna: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chowdhury launched the Citizen Service Portal under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) at the Police Headquarters, Sardar Patel Bhawan, on Saturday. This portal aims to directly connect the citizens of Bihar with police services, making the process faster, more transparent, and digitally accessible.

Launch of Citizen Service Portal: A Step Towards Transparency and Efficiency

The Citizen Service Portal, which is integrated with the CCTNS framework, will provide a platform for citizens to access police services seamlessly. This will allow individuals to report crimes, track complaints, and receive updates in real-time, bringing the police closer to the public. The portal is expected to streamline the process of filing complaints, improving the overall efficiency of the police department in addressing public concerns.

“With the launch of this portal, we are ensuring that the citizens of Bihar can now access police services in a more transparent, digital, and timely manner,” said Home Minister Samrat Chowdhury during the inauguration.

Following the inauguration, a detailed presentation was given by various departments under the Home Ministry. These included the Economic Offenses Unit, Cyber Crime Branch, Bihar Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), as well as the Directorate of Prosecution, Jail & Correctional Services, and Probation Services.

Special Secretary and Director of the Directorate of Prosecution, Mr. Sudhanshu Kumar Choubey, provided a PowerPoint presentation on the progress of the prosecution department. This was followed by a presentation on jail reforms and probation services by the Home Secretary and Inspector General of Prisons, Mr. Pranav Kumar.

Strengthening Internal Security and Enhancing Digital Services

During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chowdhury emphasized the need for increased transparency, accountability, and swift action within the departments. He also underlined the importance of expanding digital services, which will not only make services more convenient for the public but will also enable better crime control and law enforcement.

“The expansion of digital services will enhance the speed of police responses, improve crime control efforts, and make law enforcement more effective in the state,” said Chowdhury, highlighting the government’s focus on technological advancement in policing.

A Vision for Enhanced Security and Crime Control

The meeting also focused on strengthening the state’s internal security, law and order, crime control, cyber security, and security management. The Chief Minister emphasized on taking necessary actions to fortify the state’s security mechanisms, ensuring a safer environment for the people of Bihar.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Mr. Arvind Kumar Chowdhury, Director General of Police Mr. Vinay Kumar, and other senior officials were present at the event. The gathering underscored the state’s commitment to bolstering law enforcement capabilities through innovative, digital-first approaches.

A Future-Oriented Approach to Public Safety

The introduction of the Citizen Service Portal marks a significant step toward the digitization of police services in Bihar. With this, the state aims to make policing more accessible to the common man while ensuring greater responsiveness and accountability from law enforcement. The government’s efforts also include strengthening the broader security apparatus to address future challenges effectively.

The launch of this portal and the ongoing reforms within the police and home departments reflect the government’s dedication to improving public safety, crime control, and citizen engagement through modern, transparent, and efficient digital solutions.
