New Delhi: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) announced the appointment of Ms. Shalini Pandit, an Odisha-cadre IAS officer, as the new Government Nominee Director on its Board, effective from December 3, 2025. The appointment follows the Central Government’s official notification, replacing Dr. Parshant Kumar Goyal, who has ceased to hold the position from the same date.

Shalini Pandit’s Appointment and Career Overview

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on December 5, 2025, LIC confirmed the appointment of Ms. Pandit under Section 4(2)(d) of the Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956. She currently serves as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, a role she holds at the central government.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Pandit held several prominent positions in the Odisha state government, including Secretary of the School & Mass Education, Health & Family Welfare, Mission Shakti, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture departments. She also served as the Mission Director of the National Health Mission and as the Labour Commissioner, contributing significantly to key administrative reforms and public welfare initiatives.

Notably, Ms. Pandit played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic in Odisha, overseeing the state’s response efforts, which earned her recognition for her leadership and crisis management skills. Her work in education reform and public health continues to be highly regarded.
